Ningthing!

Happened upon a pretty interesting blog/site today:  Ning Thing

I think the creator lives in Singapore. Whatever/wherever.......its pretty cool! I like that it's a gumbo of 'regular' book reviews and magic-related reviews too. Check it out!

Johnny Magic

Last night, the Tyler magic club had, what started out as a "regular" meeting. We had a couple of past members come, one of whom was Jonathan Havier (aka Johnny Magic). He discussed some of his performing days in great detail.....and led a huge work session on setting up/doing the traditional Anderson Newspaper tear. I took some photos, but I'm not sure I caught any of him! It was a great session.....heck it was worth it just to know how to make the gimmick. I'll post some photos later.

I had the great privilege of having dinner a few nights ago with Richard Hatch. He was at Discovery Science Place in Tyler performing and our Ring's V.P. (Mark Kilsby) and I went out to dinner with him and his friend, Joe (from Houston). Richard is a smart guy!  Recently sold H&R Magic Books to a former employee.

Tyler Junior College Magic Class

In July, our Ring taught a 2-day magic class at Tyler Junior College. Here's a little photo of board member, Terry Teene and Secretary/Treasurer Neta Colteaux (sorry, Terry got chopped out slightly!).

Videos

So, I'm glancing at my magic videos (not all of them, just the ones on my "magic" book case)...............21 videos.....I can't believe that I've got that many! .....plus a few more tucked away in my workshop........this might be becoming an obsession!!!!!!

Animentalism

Found a neat little trick in a 1999 issue of The Linking Ring entitled, Animentalism........not to be confused with Danny Archer's "Animental" (completely different effect). I'd been looking for a reason to buy a pack of blank-faced cards.......just the reason I needed! Easy to create and easy to perform. The effect was created by a gentleman from Singapore named Tan Choon Tee. .....could easily get away with just using index cards (if needed).
